This was gifted to me by a friend recently.
I have heard murmurings about this lipstick for a while… These debuted this week, and are available in up to thirty shades. I was given the shade Mademoiselle, which I believe is the shade worn by Vanessa Paradis in this beautiful ad;
While we are on the subject of this ad, its nice to see a company acknowledging that you can still be beautiful if you are over the age of 25… Even if they haved airbrushed the heck outta the shot…
The ethos behind this new line is a new lightweight formula and new shades which are supposed to be based on the tastes of Coco herself.
Chanel makeup always has and always will hold a special place in my heart – it was the first “high end” brand I ever purchased, and I went cookoo over the Limited Editions – their Les Guaches set still holds pride of place in my collection. Since then their LE’s have been somewhat hit and miss, but every now and then something truly special will be created by them – recent examples include their nail varnishes in Jade and Particulier, the Red Dragon lip laquer. These are now joined by this new range of lipsticks.
Chanel have stuck with their traditional packaging for this line;
The lipstick feels beautifully light on the lips, but is pigmented enough to give good even coverage with a light swipe.
This shade has a semi matte appearance, and hence I expected it to be drying on the lips, but it wore very comfortably and did not feel dehydrating at all. It wore well, but as a natural shade wear off is obviously less noticeable than with a vivid red for example. I re-applied after eating and found it stayed on between feeding sessions…
