IMATS 2010 – In Pictures…

0 Comments 01 February 2010

Ok, so before I inflict my ameteur snaps of the event on you, I’m going to share some of the fab ones that were kindly emailed to me, by photographer Ryan Hayes, whose website can be found HERE.

So, as you probably know by now, the show was held in London’s Alexandra Palace. I’ve never been to “Ally Pally” before, but I really loved the building, and while I agree that the venue may have been a little bit small for the number of attendees, for me, a northern hick, the overcrowding, although annoying, was still worth it for the overall experience…

There were some stunning demo’s of body art going on at various stands… These pictures are strictly included for art’s sake, and NOTHING to do with the models looks…

AOFM Had this stunning work in progress throughout the day…
Another MUA with reason to be happy in her work… I think this was the Kryolan stand.
During the day on Saturday, the Student Competition was held… The looks created were nothing less than stunning. The contest had an Alice in Wonderland theme, and these looks really put the “art” into Makeup Artistry – I’d love to have the ability to create work this stunning…

There was an amazing array of special effects makeup being demonstrated at the event, and the skill and detail involved in this work was simply breathtaking…

The event was an amazing showcase for some extremely talented makeup artists… yes it was packed, and the entry system might have been better, but seeing work like this being done first hand was an amazing experience… Thanks again to Adam for these amazing pictures.
Now for some slightly more amateur pics…
Crown Brush and Guru Makeup Emporium were both heaving busy – but given the amazing discounts they had, I wasn’t too shocked!
Illamasqua was also offering amazing discounts, and was so busy, I couldn’t get a look in! I’m sure the presence of Nic from Pixiwoo didn’t reduce the crowds at all though!
Adam from Illamasqua was responsible for creating the amazing look above.

Those Guys at MAC pro sure had a tough job…
The highlights of the day included seeing some real pro’s at work. It was lovely to see Eve Pearl doing Demo’s actually on her stall…
Obviously though, for me, the ultimate highlight of the day was the Alex Box interview, during which you will all be pleased to hear, I managed not to act like a crazed stalker, like some people on twitter would have you believe… ;-)
Alex spoke with real passion about her art, and was a total inspiration (Fan girl moment)…
Overall, I really enjoyed the IMATS experience, and I’m definitely planning to return next year. I think some of the stall holders were poorly prepared for the product demand (OCC for some reason only brought limited amounts of lip tars, which I was surprised by) – doubtless the explosion in You Tube and Blogging about makeup is responsible in part for the high attendance numbers, so fingers crossed the stall holders are better stocked next year. Like I say though, seeing these looks being created, and such talent makeup artists at work, as well as the chance to try some ranges such as OCC, embryolisse, and many others made it worthwhile for me!
I also met these lovely folks who you may recognise from YouTube and Blogs…
Haul post to follow tomorrow… Oh, and do people want an OCC lip tar post? Yay or Nay?
